The end-to-end journey of a credit — idea → PIN → PDD → validation → registration → monitoring → verification → issuance → transfer → retirement — and which standard fits which project.
Additionality, Baselines & MRV
Additionality is the ‘without the project’ question. Baselines are the counterfactual. MRV is how you prove both once the project is running. This lesson is the technical spine of the whole course.
Eligible SA Sectors & the Registration Path
Which SA activities qualify for offset credits, why some don’t, and what a developer actually files to get from a validated PDD to credits in a COAS account.
Week 2 — Applied Practical Exercises

Apply the eligibility rules to five candidate SA projects. Decide which pass the screening, which fail, and why.
Exercise 2 — Additionality & Baseline (Project A)
Build a full additionality argument and a defensible baseline for the Msunduzi landfill-gas project.
Exercise 3 — Quantification & MRV Plan (Project A)
Turn the additionality/baseline work into a full ex-ante credit forecast, a leakage/buffer treatment, and a monitoring plan the VVB can approve.
Exercise 4 — Drafting the PDD Core (Project A)
Draft the eight core sections of the Project Design Document — the single most important document you will produce.
Exercise 5 (Capstone) — Registration, COAS & the Commercial Case
Walk Project A through international registration and COAS, then build the buyer-side carbon-tax model and defend the project in a mock validation panel.
